Hari Orangutan Sedunia

Pada 18 Ogos 2013 yang lalu, United Varsity Student of Borneo (UVSB) telah bersama-sama menyambut Hari Orangutan Sedunia sempena memperingati Orangutan yang semakin diancam kepupusan ini. Hari Orangutan Sedunia ini sepatutnya disambut pada 19 Ogos 2013 diseluruh dunia, namun di Sabah akibat kekangan masa, maka ianya disambut pada 18 Ogos. 

Seawal jam 9 pagi, UVSB telah berada di Taman Hidupan Liar Lok Kawi kerana Hari Orangutan Sedunia ini akan disambut di tempat ini. Antara aktiviti yang dijalankan adalah mengedarkan risalah-risalah yang berkisar tentang Orangutan. 

Selain itu, setiap pengunjung dikehendaki menurunkan tandatangan mereka pada sebuah kertas sebagai tanda mereka menyokong Hari Orangutan Sedunia ini. Setelah itu, video juga akan diambil sebagai tanda mereka benar-benar menyokong Hari Orangutan Sedunia.Aktiviti berakhir pada jam 12 tengah hari. Kesimpulannya, dapat diperhatikan bahawa terdapat masyarakat yang mengambil peduli tentang orangutan, dan ada juga yang langsung tidak kisah. 

Ada pengunjung yang bertanya panjang lebar tentang aktiviti ini dan ada pula yang langsung tidak mahu mendengar apa yang UVSB ingin sampaikan tentang orangutan. Oleh hal yang demikian, perkara yang paling penting ialah terdapat banyak masyarakat yang sudah tahu akan perkar ini.

Support "World Orangutan Day"

United Varsity Students of Borneo (UVSB) would like to urge to all Bornean people from both States, Sabah and Sarawak to participate the upcoming event on 19 August 2013. The event called "World Orangutan Day" which was initiated from a group of World Wide NGO. The message that want to be deliver in this event is to create awareness and cares more to the needs of Orangutan that has been put aside all this while and  their habitat that has been destroyed by some irresponsible company . It caused that Orangutans are in the middle of danger zone.

This event supported by NGO from all over the world. So Bornean,  are you in?

UVSB seek for sincerity from the both States Government of Sabah and Sarawak to create Legislative Protection for Orangutans in order to protect Orangutans against the conventional palm oil!

*** Sabah and Sarawak Tourism Board SHOULD HIGHLIGHT this event in the mainstream media and indirectly it can promote the awareness about our responsibility towards Orangutan. Thus, it will be one of the most attractive event in Borneo for all visitor all over the world every 19 August***
